Is it important to understand the geography of the Promised Land to better understand the Bible?

Dr. Tony Crisp Interview: Early Life

Part 1 of a 3 part interview series with Dr. Tony Crisp, Founder of True Life Concepts Ministry.

In this video, you will hear about his humble beginnings of being raised by a Godly grandmother.

What is the significance of the old cook stove you see in Dr. Crisp’s office?

How does a young boy raised in abstract poverty in a small town in East Tennessee find his way to Dallas, Texas and Criswell Bible Institute (now Criswell College) ?

Devotional From A Friend

I’m going to share a devotional from a book that a friend gave me recently.

The Scripture passage is Romans 12:1 “I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice.”

His Disciple

An African pastor was overwhelmed by rebels who demanded that he renounce his faith.  He refused.  The night before they took his life, he wrote the following lines on a scrap of paper:

“I am part of the ‘Fellowship of the Unashamed.’  I have Holy Spirit power.  The die has been cast.  I’ve stepped over the line.  The decision has been made.  I am a disciple of His.  I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.  My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure.  I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tame visions, mundane talking, chintzy giving, and dwarfed goals!

I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity.  I don’t have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded.  I now live by presence, lean by faith, love by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by power.

My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions few, my guide reliable, my mission clear.  I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed.  I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I won’t give up, shut up, let up, or burn up till I’ve preached up, prayed up, paid up, stored up, and stayed up for the cause of Christ.

I am a disciple of Jesus.  I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till all know, and work till He stops.

And when He comes to get His own, He’ll have no problems recognizing me.  My colors will be clear.”

May this be my prayer today.

Lord, develop in me the perseverance and faithfulness to pursue Your goal for my life even in the face of adversity. AMEN!

Walk Worthy: Walk in Wisdom

Wisdom is not something discussed often in modern society, and when it does it is not correctly defined.

Wisdom comes down from above says James, the Lord’s half-brother.

13 Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” James 3:13-18 NASB

Walk Worthy: Walk in Love

Love is a word used in our culture in a very loose way.  It can mean many different things as we use it and hear others use it.  Love is something that tends to be about the person speaking.  In other words, if someone says  ‘I love you’ to someone it too often is just a means to an end.

Love  seems to be the one thing all humanity desires and needs.  From conception to maturity (physical, emotional & spiritual) mankind experiences connections with other people starting with their mother.  It is designed by the Creator to be this way, because He has made us to live in community with others starting with our own parents.  The love of parents is such an important thing in the development of all people.

The context of the life of a disciple of Jesus is love.  God’s love is not self-centered, but it is for the benefit of others!  For a believer in Jesus, we are loved by God as his ‘dearly loved children’.  No matter who you are or what you think about yourself, once you are born into the family of God you are loved by Him!

In Christ,
