During the Fall of 2010 my dad was suffering physically with dementia and heart problems, things he had been battling for some time; however this time his health declined and never rebounded. He finally passed away in February 2011. Two weeks later, my mom had shoulder replacement surgery she had desperately needed for at least a year, but she would not have the procedure so she could continue to care for dad. The week after surgery was not as we had expected, but once she got a pacemaker put in she started gaining strength quickly!
At the beginning of the summer, I had a benign tumor removed from my right jaw. Because the tumor was intertwined with my facial nerves and the surgeon was fearful cells from the tumor could have been left behind, I began radiation treatments at the end of the summer which lasted for 6 weeks. I am doing well now. The side effects, i.e. lack of saliva, loss of taste, energy level reduced, etc. have now greatly improved! I am very thankful for the restoration of my health.
On June 2, 2011 Emma Grace was born into this world. She was truly the blessing amid the adversities of life. Lindsay and Emma Grace did well once Lindsay’s blood pressure got leveled out a month or so after birth. Emma Grace now has two teeth, and she is definitely a mommy’s girl!
The second half of 2011 has been primarily focused on my recovery and Emma’s presence – what a huge influence such a small little girl has over everything and everyone! For a year that started with disease and difficulty, 2011 has ended with life and hopefulness.
Be on the lookout for more to come from me here. I have some exciting plans for the first quarter of the year, and I believe you will be blessed by the improvements. I ask for your prayers as I create a resource here for us as we live our faith daily with the Lord and each other.
